Additional Support to Enable and Support Community Led Housing in Ryedale

Ryedale District Council (the Council) is based at Ryedale House in Malton and is responsible for a number of key services to the community. Further information can be found on the Council's website www.ryedale.gov.uk .

In 2016/17 Ryedale District Council was allocated £420k from the Government's Community Housing Fund to explore and progress Community Led Housing schemes.

The council's local funding plan is informed by the outcome of research that was jointly commissioned by Community First Yorkshire and York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Housing Board. This work was delivered in 2016/17, managed by Community First Yorkshire (then called Rural Action Yorkshire) with support from Social Regeneration Consultants and was funded by the Nationwide Foundation, UK Co Housing Network and North Star Housing Association. No pilots were located in Ryedale as part of this research.

The council identified a need to commission additional community development capacity to work with the Council to support the develop of establishing any pilot schemes and to generate interest and lead a dialogue with other community groups across Ryedale around Community Led Housing as a first step towards delivering additional housing on housing development sites and rural exception sites across the District.

The council wants to partner with an organisation that can demonstrate a good knowledge of Ryedale, Community Led Housing and other housing and community development related issues to take on this role, working closely with council officers, housing providers, the North Yorkshire and East Riding Community Led Housing Hub and other stakeholders.

The work will be for a period of 2 years commencing 1st November 2017.
