description

Provision of archaeological trial trenching services for Blyth Relief Road (phase 2).

Northumberland County Council are preparing the design for Blyth Relief Road - a highway scheme including the construction of a new dual carriageway link from the A189 Three Horse Shoes Interchange to the A1061 from Portland Wynd Roundabout, dualling of the existing single carriageway A1061 from Portland Wynd roundabout to the A194 and construction of a separate single carriageway road connecting Chase Farm Drive to Ogle Drive within the centre of Blyth, Northumberland.

The programme of trial trenching forms part of a phased programme (Stage 2) of archaeological evaluation that will accompany and inform the proposed planning application for the proposed scheme.
