description
The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) requirement is for a tuneable multi-wavelength pulsed Nd:YAG pumped OPO laser in the range 680 - 1300 nm. The purpose of the laser is to be interfaced with a Verasonics system to provide excitation pulses as part of a newly developed photoacoustic imaging system, with the view to developing a system which will be used for standardisation of quantitative photoacoustic measurements. NPL require the laser to achieve full-width half-maximum (FWHM) pulse duration in the nanosecond range (6 +/- 2 ns) and with pulse energies at a minimum of 50 mJ at the specified wavelengths with per pulse tuning capability.
The laser system will be mounted on a metric optical table, which has a useable space of 1 m x 1 m. NPL also require a means to direct the beam into the samples of interest both via free space and fibre-bundle. The laser system must be supplied with a safety interlock and system enable via a key (hardware or software) and a suitable optical fibre bundle, as detailed below. The laser system should be easy to maintain, such as flash lamp replacement and in such a way that does not impact upon measurements (e.g. alignment should be repeatable or require only simple recalibration).
Clarifications Deadline: 05/02/2019 at 15:00 UK Time
