description

For many years Wiltshire Council has maintained fixed automatic traffic counter sites (currently around 115) for monitoring traffic trends and providing other insights into traffic flows. These sites use inductive loops.

With the exception of five telemetry sites commissioned in 2012, data has been collected by site visits. While this practice was essential in pre-telemetry days, it has continued because it allowed over a hundred sites to be monitored with a relatively small number of counters.

This pre market engagement exercise seeks information from the market and is not a call for competition. For further information and to download the Preliminary Market Engagement documents, please visit www.supplyingthesouthwest.org.uk and register on the website if you have not already done so.
