Lancaster University wishes to purchase a Large Langmuir-Blodgett trough with a Brewster angle microscope, light source and camera.

This document has been prepared to set-out the University’s requirements and enable potential Suppliers to submit accurate proposals.

Building on its reputation and existing facilities for internationally excellent research in advanced nuclear fuel recycle technologies, Security Lancaster, part of Lancaster University, has recently been awarded funds from GCHQ for small items of equipment, to support its world-class security research. As part of this, we would like to extend our capabilities to deposit monolayer materials using the Langmuir-Blodgett technique.

It is anticipated that the effective operational life of the machine will be 5 years.

Delivery is required as soon as possible, final deadline is 11th March 2016.

This purchase supports the University’s objective to maintain its place as a world class research establishment.
