description
NHS Northern, Eastern and Western Devon Clinical Commissioning Group (NEW Devon CCG) and Devon County Council are committed to improving outcomes for people with dementia and their carers; recognising the imperative of working together to achieve this. Commissioners from health and social care are intending to retender for a dementia support service throughout Devon, expected to commence in January 2016.
The delivery of the Dementia Support Service will be in line with the National Dementia Strategy and is an important additional resource for Primary Care in managing a rising number of patients with dementia within increasingly stretched workload capacity. It also provides visible and tangible benefits to considering and making a diagnosis of dementia in patients who are increasingly struggling with cognitive deficit as they get older.
This service will be an essential element of the overall dementia care pathway, addressing the gap between diagnosis and the need for more intensive support from NHS or social care services.
The following web links are intended to provide further information from both NEW Devon CCGs website and Devon County Councils website in relation to dementia support services:

The purpose of this event is to give providers the opportunity to help inform and understand how we can approach some of the key issues associated with the delivery of a dementia support service throughout Devon. The outcome of this event is to help to inform us how to approach the procurement of the services in due course to ensure that we deliver the best outcomes for patients.
The Market Engagement Event will be held on Tuesday 24th March 2015 at Exeter City Football Club, St James' Park, Stadium Way, Exeter, Devon EX4 6PX. The event will start at 1000 hrs with registration between 0900 hrs and 0930 hrs and expected to run through to 1300 hrs.
