Project Support Officer

About the role

As a Strategy and Delivery project lead you will support the design and delivery of areas of work to support Defra's Infrastructure delivery. You may have a single large work area or several connected areas; No two posts are the same but in broad terms your work will include:

The provision of effective planning and prioritisation of activities to deliver high quality results to time

Working with a range of connected stakeholders, both in and outside of Government, to help ensure that you are able to deliver the best results

Using a combination of evidence and your expertise to help guide decisions on the most effective approach to strategy development and delivery

Reporting and briefing the wider programme and other senior officials on your key areas.

Project management of your work area

Examples of projects to be designed and delivered include:

Supporting the design and delivery of a financial competition to ports and other providers to win funding to build additional live animal Border Control Posts Developing a strategy and the operational delivery to enable charging for services at inland border control facilities

Designing and delivering an exit strategy for Defra to hand over or decommission sites

Developing the future strategy for HMG Border Control Posts

All of the above will require you to work across government and across Defra departments, and to be able to apply financial as well as policy considerations.
