description
The New Forest National Park Authority and partners are leading a Landscape Partnership Scheme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund: Our Past, Our Future (OPOF). This 5 year partnership project will deliver some 20 projects under three main themes.
The New Forest Commoner’s Defences Association (CDA) are leading on the delivery of the Common Cause – A Shared Forest Project, which is focused on improving public awareness and understanding of commoning in the New Forest
The New Forest Commoners’ Defence Association and the New Forest National Park Authority are looking to contract some work to develop and design a teaching aid for Key Stages 1 and 2 about commoning in the New Forest. The aim is to develop a learning programme for children that will build a love for the Forest and its uniqueness, and thus develop an understanding of the pivotal role that commoning plays in its past, present and future.
The main outputs will be:
- Toolkit structure and rationale to include: basic educational principles, study areas, learning development, links to national curriculum, monitoring strategy
- Teaching notes, background information sheets and series of activities for the Toolkit: e.g. worksheets, games, puzzles, based on a single identifiable design template
- Trials of Toolkit with four New Forest schools
- Feedback on trials and development of Toolkit over years 2 to 4
