description

This project will carry out Rapid Assessment Surveys (RAS) for detection of priority marine non-native species (NNS) in sites around the coasts of England and Wales focused mainly in marinas as well as selected ports where feasible. The majority of sites selected for this study were surveyed by the MBA in 2014-16. Repeating surveys using the same protocols will allow a robust comparison of data thereby providing a relatively comprehensive overview of changes over c. 8-year interval: new species arrivals, new colonisations/losses at particular sites, species range extensions/contractions and evolving regional differences in the prevalence of priority marine NNS.

This project was awarded by DEFRA.
