description

The LBTA is a cut down Truck Utility Medium (TUM) which is an approved framework into which real BCIP equipment is mounted for training purposes. The ComSim controls the Radio Frequency (RF) emanating from BOWMAN radios and provides a simulated Electro-Magnetic (EM) environment to allow LBTA users to communicate as if they are in the real world. The combination of ComSim and LBTA is known as the ComSim-LBTA classroom.

The requirement is to put in place:

  1. A maintenance service to existing ComSim-LBTA Classrooms to include:

Telephone hotline support (1st Line): during normal working hours (0800 - 1630 hours Monday to Thursday, 0800 - 1230 Friday).

Repair (2nd and 3rd Line): maximum 8-hour turnaround during normal working hours (0800 - 1800 hours Monday to Thursday, 0800 - 1230 Friday).

Annual maintenance and calibration visits to all installed sites. Including but not limited to: visual inspection of equipment; earth-bonding; examining computer hardware for unauthorised software; test-loading of exercises; validation of configuration settings; noise testing and testing of recording and replay functions; the production of a fully costed list of spares within a proposed spares pool; safe installation of ComSim kit and for conducting the Safety Checks when visiting; assure the training to the T3 candidates.

Map conversion service to enable Defence mapping to be used with ComSim

Compile and distribute Monthly Virus Updates to all sites.

  1. Training Service: Train all instructors on a 2-day complex ComSim-LBTA classroom as appropriate for the site.
  2. Design Authority facilities (including maintenance of current Reference Model) to meet Defence's Design Authority obligations.
  3. Adhoc Tasks including, but not limited to identifying any shortfall in the existing Spares pool, and highlight when spares are low;
