description
Marble Hill Stable Block Cafe project consists of refurbishment and re-ordering of the internal space of the ground floor of existing Grade II Listed Stable Block as well as providing a new extension, increasing the floor area from 134m² to 400m². The building brief is to provide a high quality commercial cafe and retail facility within the heritage setting of Marble Hill House and Park.
English Heritage intends to appoint a contractor under a Traditional Contract with Architect as Contract Administrator and Lead consultant.
Contractors to demonstrate previous relevant experience of working with Listed Buildings in sensitive heritage settings as well as technical and professional ability for new build commercial catering facilities. The design of the extension is a single storey mono-pitch exposed timber structure with zinc roof. The L-shaped extension is fully glazed on 3 sides to the courtyard. The boundary wall to the neighbouring garden is an exposed brick wall with detailing to match the existing boundary wall to the Park. A flat roof extension links the main volume of the Cafe to the north wing of the Stable Block with a flat roof section. The Cafe and Kitchen are accommodated within the new extension. The reordering of the existing Stable Block creates a new retail space, kiosk, plant and staff welfare area.
