Housing Related Support Service in Milton Keynes

Milton Keynes Council is committed to supporting young people and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, to gain settled accommodation and move towards independent living.

A competitive tender is currently being planned and specified for a Housing Related Support Service to be provided across Milton Keynes. The Council therefore wishes to encourage participation and innovation from providers and is holding a Market Engagement Event for interested organisations.

Housing Related Support will be provided to vulnerable young people and adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness including:

• 16 and 17 year old Looked After Children
• Homeless 16 and 17 year olds
• Care Leavers
• Homeless mothers with babies
• Single adults with support needs

The overall purpose of the service is to enable residents to develop their independent living skills to enable them to move on successfully to settled accommodation. The service will also offer a resettlement package to all clients, for a specified period, after they have left the supported accommodation. Identifying sufficient longer term housing for residents continues to be challenging and the Council welcomes providers with innovative ways of sourcing ‘move on’ accommodation for their clients.

The contract duration for the new service will be five years (anticipated to start January 2017), with the option to extend for a further two years.
