Pavement Investigation Survey 2019
Fleming Way Bus Boulevard, Swindon
Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of pavement investigations proposed in order to determine the layer depths, condition and strength of the existing pavement.
Project Description
Swindon Borough Council requires site investigations to inform the detailed design of a new Bus Boulevard at Fleming Way, Swindon. The Bus Boulevard project includes regrading Fleming Way and the removal of the subway. As part of the Fleming Way Bus Boulevard detailed design stage, additional pavement investigations are proposed to supplement the information available from the preliminary design stage.
The pavement investigation is proposed in order to determine the layer depths, condition and strength of the existing pavement. The results will be used to determine the appropriate pavement widening and maintenance treatment options.
In summary, the intended pavement investigation will consist of:
| • | Coring with Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) testing; |
| • | Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR); |
| • | Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) testing; and |
| • | Laboratory testing of pavement layers. |
