description
Our expertise is managed within resource pools (Operations, Corporate Communications, Legal, Executives, Analytics, Strategy and Policy). The resource pools have a broad range of professional backgrounds including lawyers, engineers, scientists, economists, accountants, regulatory generalists and support service specialists. We have circa 160 staff that work out of our two offices located in central Birmingham and London.
The objective is to undertake effective advertising, search, selection and candidate management processes to recruit a Chief Economist and a Delivery Director for Ofwat Analytics Resource Pool. Both roles will work across then relevant programmes.
The aim is to ensure Ofwat has the highest calibre of leadership through the expertise and experience its leadership team.
The new roles will play a key role in the refinement and delivery of Ofwat's strategy 'Trust in Water', as a respected and inspirational leader within Ofwat, the regulatory community and the sector we regulate. Candidates will need to demonstrate they meet the requirements of the role and job profile. The aim is to recruit an individual who can demonstrate experience of the following:
| • | A good understanding of our economics and its implications for all aspects of our regulatory tool kit - softer tools as well as the more conventional price controls, and licence enforcement. |
| • | The ability to articulate a compelling vision in line with our strategy and embed this across Ofwat through everything we do and every conversation we have, internally and externally. |
| • | To play a key role in the delivery of Ofwat’s strategy, in the form of the provision of high quality, timely economic analysis and advice. |
| • | A good grasp of programme and project management disciplines, including risk and opportunity management, and the ability to responsibly to manage significant delegated budgets and compliance processes. |
| • | A good understanding of the complex environment within which we operate, and who can help us build partnerships and get best value from all of our work through innovative engagement. |
| • | Courage to take tough decisions in line with our strategy, and to recognise the potential for learning in everything we do. |
| • | A strong sense of team work, who gets fulfilment from a sense of common purpose and the ability of a group of people to achieve more together than the individuals could alone. |
We are looking for a Supplier to undertake effective advertising, search and selection processes and present a high quality and diverse field of suitable candidates for a Chief Economist and a Delivery Director. At all stages of long listing, short listing and appointable candidates we would expect to see diversity suitably represented.
