'Renfrewshire Council intends to appoint an external team (the Consultant) to deliver a robust business case and initial building and museum design brief for investment in the Category A listed Museum and Art Galleries and Coats Observatory, with consideration given to the adjacent library, Transit House and nearby Category C listed Paisley Philosophical Buildings. The Council has launched a significant regeneration strategy based on the latent potential of Renfrewshire's heritage, cultural and tourism assets and its burgeoning events and festivals programme. In particular a heritage and cultural regeneration strategy for Paisley town centre was launched in June 2014. The development of the Paisley Museum and Art Galleries is the flagship project for the Paisley Town Centre Heritage Asset strategy and will contribute significantly to the objectives of the programme.
