description

The Plot 3 Infrastructure works around Temple Quay being approximately 3,000m2 of pavement construction, generally comprise of stone capping with tarmac sub-base, sand and block paving, and associated works will include the following components:

Earthworks
Extension of Friary to Meads Reach Bridge
oThis work would comprise the extension of Friary as a two carriageway road east of Isambard Walk to Meads Reach Bridge.
oAs part of this work the footway to the north of Friary (adjacent to the Plot 3 development site) would be extended to 6 metres in width, as will the footway to the south (adjacent to the station) would be made 8.5 metres in width and include the provision of 6 new benches and an avenue of 5 new trees.
oThe Friary will terminate with the provision of a new flexible use open space
Flexible Open Space
oSpace for temporary use will also be provided between the extended Friary and the listed retaining wall (outside of development area)
oThe area will be finished with seating terraces, and a planted bank to tie into the existing levels forming an earth retaining structure.
oThis area will also need to be made capable of accommodating the occasional vehicle turning.
Opening Isambard Walk as a two-way vehicular street between Friary and Temple Back East
oThe existing pedestrianised Isambard Walk will be opened for two-way vehicle access to create a link between Temple Back East and Friary, and to tie in with the existing road of the private estate. As part of this work a new footway will also be provided to the eastern side of the Isambard Walk new carriageway.
oIsambard Walk will act as a shared space, and so will be treated to reduce the potential dominance of vehicles and reduce vehicle speeds
oThe footway, trees, cycle parking and street furniture to the west of Isambard Walk and in The Square would remain as existing.
Temple Back East
oThe existing turning head area on Temple Back East would be removed, to allow two way vehicular access to Isambard Walk
oTwo way vehicular access will be maintained to Rope Walk, with a left turn out of Rope Walk into Isambard Walk to be provided for
oExisting crossing will be maintained across from The Square to the footway on Temple Back East
