description
Historic England wish to advertise a project commissioned by a group of partners keen to improve the outcomes and increase the number of public assets being transferred into the hands of communities. The confirmed partners are Historic England, Arts Council England, the HLF and BIG Lottery fund, Locality and Power to change.
The intention is to improve our understanding of what barriers exist that prevent successful asset transfer, to identify which areas have been successful in transferring assets, and what the partners should do to help improve outcomes. At present the processes are not happening as smoothly as they should; fewer assets are being transferred to community groups than might be expected and there are significant variations across the country. The specific tasks are set out in section 3
The focus of the project would be to identify the common lessons for successful asset transfer as well as identifying additional specific issues that might relate to the interests of the partners (e.g. sports facilities or historic buildings).
