Family Group Conferencing

The Council seeks Tenders for the provider to deliver a FamilyGroup Conference service for children young people andtheir families in the Bournemouth and Poole areas over a three year period. This will include the organisation and facilitation of the conference and a subsequent review. Bournemouth Borough Council and The Borough of Poole have agreed to jointly procure a Family Group Conference Service.

Bournemouth Borough Council is a Unitary Authority with a resident population of 186,700 (2011 census results).

The Borough of Poole is a Unitary Authority with a population of 147,600 residents (2011 census results).

The Looked After Children (LAC) population in July 2014 was 166 in Poole and 308 in Bournemouth.

A Family Group Conference is a process facilitated independently and led by family members to plan and make decisions for a child who is at risk. This is a means of involving family members, including extended family and friends, in decision making and planning for children about whom concerns have been expressed in relation to their safety or well-being.

The child or young person is often involved in the meeting, with the support of an advocate if required.
