Passenger Transport Services

The London Borough of Croydon is seeking tenders from companies that wish to be appointed to a Framework Agreement for the provision of passenger transport services from August 2015 primarily for vulnerable children, young people and adults. The Framework Agreement will also include for the provision of ad-hoc passenger journeys to satisfy the requirements of the Council.

The vehicles required will include cars, estate cars, multi-purpose vehicles, minibuses and coaches, including specially-adapted vehicles for the carriage of wheelchairs. Journeys may be required on a regular or ad hoc basis and are mostly within the Borough of Croydon and the surrounding areas, but some longer distance journeys will be required. Services may also require the provision of passenger assistants.

Tenderers will not have to provide all categories of vehicles and/or passenger assistants to be considered for inclusion in the Framework Agreement.

Currently, the Council provides transport for some 1,100 clients on 376 routes to 123 destinations. There are currently 16 destinations (mostly in-Borough special schools) served by minibus/coach services operating some 70 daily routes and carrying c600 passengers, Additionally, all 123 destinations (a mix of in-borough and out-of-borough) are served by car/mpv services operating 306 daily routes and carrying c500 passengers, again generally on a daily basis but with a small number of weekly/termly journeys.
