EKFB JV - Precast concrete panels forming part of route wide acoustic barrier - NEC Subcontract Works

EKFB is seeking to appoint two competent manufacturer(s) to supply and install reinforced precast panels that contain cast in woodchip acoustic brick tiles.

There are approximately 23,000 panels of 4m wide x 1m high across 3 main variants and a number of sub-variants allowing for slope/penetrations etc. Their thickness will be between 170mm and 380mm and approximately 20% will have a cast-in 'crank' at the head of the panel. Approx. 60% will require slots cast into the profile on each side.

The wood chip solution will be nominated by EKFB.

A 40-year design life warranty is required from the manufacturer (subject to satisfactory testing). No additional design is required.

Manufacture of the panels is programmed to take approximately two years, beginning late 2025, with average daily casting requirements of 60 units per day (30 per day per manufacturer).

EKFB are looking for offerings led by the manufacturer/precaster whose annual turnover exceeds £20m, who are used to dealing with packages of this volume, and who can clearly demonstrate technical capability and quality of manufacture in addition to overall capability and capacity to undertake the works.

The acoustic barrier generally will total approximately 25km in length and run route wide from North Chilterns to Southam.
